School doors open at 8:50 a.m. to allow children time to arrive, transition into the classroom, and prepare for the day. Instruction begins promptly at 9:00 a.m., and we encourage all children to arrive between 8:50 and 9:00 a.m. to ensure they are ready to participate from the start of the instructional day.
The regular full-day preschool schedule is 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. On scheduled early dismissal days, the preschool program will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. In the event of a delayed opening, the full-day preschool schedule will be 11:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Please listen carefully to delayed opening announcements, as schedules may vary depending on the circumstances. Families
will be notified of delayed openings, school closings, and other
emergency schedule changes by the District Superintendent through
telephone and email messages. Please ensure that your contact
information in Genesis is accurate and up to date so that you receive
these important communications. We kindly ask that families do not call
the school or local police department for information regarding
emergency closings.
All Mini-Mounties
@ MELA classrooms follow the Montclair Public School calendar,
including all school closures and abbreviated days. The Mini-Mounties
classrooms participate in all of the school district’s abbreviated days,
which are utilized for teacher professional learning, curriculum
development, and conferences. Families are given ample notice of
upcoming early dismissal days. On these days, all classrooms will dismiss at 1:50 p.m. Only Mini-Mounties students enrolled in the YMCA aftercare program can stay for After Care on abbreviated days. On these days, dismissal is 1:50 p.m. for all Mini Mounties students. Lunch will be eaten as usual. Buses will pick students up at 1:50 p.m. and drop off will be two hours earlier than the normal drop off time.
